AAP Releases Final List Of Candidates For Delhi Polls; Kejriwal Slams BJP For 'No CM Face'
In its bid for a third consecutive term in power in the national capital, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has nominated its senior leaders from their own constituencies.
Ministers Saurabh Bharadwaj, Gopal Rai, Imran Hussain, Raghuvinder Shokeen and Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat will contest the polls from Greater Kailash, Babarpur, Ballimaran, Nangloi Jat and Sultanpur Majra respectively.
Kejriwal hailed the list and informed that AAP has announced candidates for all 70 Assembly seats in Delhi. “Our party has a vision and a plan for the development of Delhiites and a good team of educated people to implement it. There is a long list of works done in the last ten years.” Kejriwal wrote on X.
उनका केवल एक ही नारा है, केवल एक ही नीति है और… https://t.co/OQ4ehsfKHYRead More Woman slaps kid, his mother over minor altercation at Greater Noida's Gaur City, Video goes viral— Arvind Kejriwal (@ArvindKejriwal) December 15, 2024
"People of Delhi will vote for those who work, not those who abuse.", the former Delhi CM added.
Taking a swipe at BJP, Kejriwal said, "BJP is missing. They have no CM face, no team, no planning and no vision for Delhi. They have only one slogan, only one policy and only one mission - “Remove Kejriwal”. Ask them what they did in 5 years, and they reply - “Kejriwal ko bahut gaali di”.
The list, issued by party National General Secretary Sandeep Pathak, showed the party’s belief in the performance of over three dozen sitting legislators who have again been given tickets for the coming elections to pick a 70-member Assembly. Minister Gopal Rai will contest from Babarpur and his Cabinet colleague Saurabh Bhardwaj will fight the election from Greater Kailash. Okhla legislator Amanaturllah Khan, who was involved in an alleged case related to Waqf Board irregularities, has also been fielded again.
Former health minister Satyendra Kumar Jain, who remained in jail for almost a year in a money laundering case, will recontest from Shakur Basti. Former MP Mahabal Mishra’s son Vinay Mishra has once again been fielded from Dwarka. Former Delhi law minister Somnath Bharti will contest the Malviya Nagar seat again.
Some of the other key AAP candidates are: Sanjeev Jha from Burari, Ajesh Yadav from Badli, Mohinder Goyal from Rithala, Jai Bhagwan from Bawana, Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat from Sultan Pur Majra, Raghuvinder Shokeen from Nangloi Jat, Bandana Kumari from Shalimar Bagh, Preeti Tomar from Tri Nagar, Rajesh Gupta from Wazirpur, Akhilesh Pati Tripathi from Model Town, Som Dutt from Sadar Bazar, Shoaib Iqbal from Matia Mahal and Imran Hussain from Ballimaran.
In the 2020 election, the AAP had secured 62 of the 70 seats in Delhi, solidifying its dominance in national capital's politics. The upcoming polls are expected to be a litmus test for the party's governance model and its appeal to the electorate.
